A good book is the happy collision of a well-told story and its intended reader. Is Chasing Light and the transformational experience it represents meant for you? Test drive the prologue and we'll see if it resonates...

THE EYE CAN’T FOCUS ON WHAT IT CAN’T SEE.

It’s a basic concept—until you consider our world is illuminated by a visible spectrum that accounts for less than .01% of all light. In other words, what we perceive as darkness contains over 99.99% of all light in the universe.

If you had to read that twice to wrap your head around it, that makes two of us—especially when you extrapolate beyond the math and into the metaphysical, where the idea could be challenging for anyone who’s embraced the lie that they’re ‘ordinary.’ But then, I’m betting you’re not most people.

Even so, I want to prevent the possibility of anyone mistaking this book for something it’s not. If it strikes you as the self-congratulatory memoir of some asshole’s charmed life, look deeper; if it seems like a stretch for a hard luck story, you’d be wrong again. I’m well aware of the fact that I had it easier than most—possibly you, too.

So what is it then? Part meditation, part manifesto, it is a tool wrapped in a tale—a testament to the transformational power of truth. It’s a book for fathers, sons, and the women in their lives. It’s for young lions who war with themselves—and for old lions who never finished the fight. It’s for anyone who feels alone in the dark, disconnected from the exceptionalism that is their birthright.

Regardless of what I say, it will be you who determines whether this is more than just the story of a man who set himself on fire to reveal his own darkness: a liar who fell in love with the truth; a quitter who found his grit; a taker who knows what it means to give.

Whatever your life looks like at this moment, the fact that you’re reading this is no accident—nor is the challenge that awaits you at the end of this 60–90 minute read. In the meantime, consider this an invitation to light a fire within yourself—not the kind that burns you, but the kind that defines you.

My name is Michael Cavotta, and I’ve spent the last fifteen years behind a camera and inside people’s heads in pursuit of one thing: illumination of the authentic self. With artificial intelligence on a collision course with the singularity, authentic presence may be all that stands between us and the abyss. The word itself may be hard to define, but we know authenticity when we see it:

It’s the frictionless movement of truth,
from the inside out

It’s what sets us apart—and
what brings us together

It’s the ability to be vulnerable, because we’re connected to something powerful beyond measure

It’s the inexhaustible energy source we run on when we’re one with our fire

It’s the gift that multiplies when
we share it with the world

I wrote these words years ago, tucking them away in a folder on my computer labeled IDEAS, but they were never mine to bury. The search for truth belongs to us all. This is the story of how it found me...

BE YOURSELF – AND I WILL BE YOUR WITNESS

$150.00

Chasing Light taught me the value of embracing all facets of myself. My blue fire burns with purpose, illuminating the truth of who I am and the impact I am here to make. —DAVID HELLE

It is said that in ceremony, a future version of ourselves is uncovered—and the work after is to live into that vision. I’ve seen the different faces that shine through for others, but Chasing Light helped me consciously shine for myself—and give me the gift of knowing what that looks like. —MORGAN OAKS

Chasing Light showed me that vulnerability is how we ignite the great fire within us. It reinforced my belief that everyone, (and everything) is woven together by the same spirit. —MICHAEL PAPPAS

Growth comes from stepping into the process, not avoiding it. Transformation happens in the journey. Chasing Light underscored these truths for me. —KEN ICAN
